Aside from that. Would any parent just accept the return of the emotional abusive boyfriend after he turned her into a vegetable emotionally. If id been Bella, once I connected to Jake and his pack, I'd look to the future, live up to my true potential and accept what he had to offer, I wouldn't hold on to the past.
And not when the man who has hurt me this much emotionally asks for a second chance and he gets innocent bystanders, including a man who was probably a paternal friend, or more to me, killed. Yes she loves Jake, but Jake is everything a father is looking for in a future suitor. Jake is a healthier choice, a much healthier choice. I think Bella just became addicted to Edward and because of that she did not love Jake back.
In my point of view I think that's a bit selfish because Jake loved her with all of his heart and she just killed his feelings. Jake loved her for who she is and who she will be where as Edward just wanted her and she wanted Edward because he offered her immortality. Sign up to join this community.

Why did Bella choose Edward over Jacob? Ask Question. Asked 9 years, 6 months ago. Active 3 years, 5 months ago. Viewed 50k times. Improve this question. Because if she'd chosen Jacob the story wouldn't have as many parts in the series - fewer challenges and story bumps and an earlier resolution. Why all the downvotes?

Good point about how this choice is about security versus true growth and development. Null because she's addicted. Why else does anyone choose heroin over anything? She also wanted to be beautiful so that it would make sense to her as to why Edward loved her. I choose neither, thank you! If anyone felt like they were addicted to someone like a drug then it has to be Edward who said Her blood was like his own personal brand of heroin. I dont, but i think its because Edward is simply a dominate man.
I honestly think it's because he can't read her thoughts, so he is constantly thinking about what she's thinking. He is so used to knowing every persons thoughts that this is new and challenging for him. It's an obsession in my opinion. Even in the last book once she finally learns to control her "mind shield" he asks her to remove it so that he can see what she's thinking for once.
I might be wrong but I think that's what it is. Feb 21, PM. Allison wrote: "id like think its because Edward is a controling person and Bella is easly controled.

I don't question why my husband loves me - he just does. We compliment each other well, communicate well together, and have fun. Sometimes love just happens and doesn't have to make sense. Like Edward loving Bella. He just does. The initial attraction was the blood and her silent mind. She's pretty even though she thinks of herself as plain.
She's caring, responsible, and thoughtful. Those might be some of the reasons, but it goes beyond that, I'm sure. Maddie wrote: "I guest don't see why Edward is so in love with Bella. Nothing at all, apparently though he can't read her mind and her blood is yummy to him. Personally, I think it's a fasination he mistook for love.
I'm not saying ordinary is a bad thing though. It just makes a boring book. Amy wrote: "I'm quite plain and ordinary other than a book obssession. Nya wrote: "it's love! I just don't see why Bella. I mean, I know her blood smells, like, awesome, and everything, but it's just really annoying to me.
I found it unfortunate that Edward fell in love with her because she was different, but in actuality she was exactly the same as all of the other girls Edward couldn't stand.
Maddie wrote: "Nya wrote: "it's love! I just don't see Typically people think loud, adventurous and outgoing is more interesting, but not everyone does. I tend to like quiet, dorky guys myself. It wasn't just Edward that was obsessed with her. It was everyone in Forks. She didn't stand out in any particular way. Her friend was just as pretty.
I don't think it's love. Vampires don't love, they lust. Like other people have said--love is strange and we don't get it. But seriously Kerri wrote: "It wasn't just Edward that was obsessed with her. Vampires don't love, That's debatable; I suppose it depends on your definition of love. I can't really call it just lust because vampires seem to bond on more than just a physical level. What is love but surging brain chemicals? Is there a love beyond the biological aspect of it? I'd like to think so.

It's love at first sight, or smell as the case may be.. Whats to understand.. If someone in a relationship is gaslighting their partner, it can cause many problems.
For example, if the partner begins to believe that they're crazy, they may develop a mental health disorder. A medical article on the subject mentioned the effects of being gaslighted include anxiety, depression, isolation, and psychological trauma.
Gaslighting is a sub-form of manipulation, which is another problem found in Bella and Edward's relationship. Imagine your best friend wants to go to a concert performed by their favorite band with you. You have plans to visit your ill grandmother at the hospital that day. So, you respectfully decline the invitation and apologize. Your friend bursts into obnoxious sobs and cries, "If you were my best friend, you would go with me! In Eclipse, the third movie in the series, Bella attempts to pressure Edward into having sex with him.
She manipulates him by asking "Please? Edward also manipulates Bella by saying that if she wants to have sex with him, she needs to marry him first.
They're manipulating each other in different ways. Manipulation is finding clever ways to get what is desired, even if it is unfair.
This happens all the time and people may not realize they are manipulative or being manipulated. Studies show that manipulation is trying to change someone's beliefs, typically for bad reasons.
The manipulator gets what they want at the victim's expense. This harmful tactic displays a sense of disrespect to the victim. It indicates that the manipulator doesn't care how the victim feels, they just want the victim to give in.
A good hypothetical scenario of cheating would be walking in on your significant other making out with someone who isn't you. You agreed to an exclusive relationship and the significant other is breaking that boundary by being romantically involved with someone else. At the end of Eclipse , Jacob Black manipulates Bella into kissing him after threatening to leave and join the fight occurring with newborn vampires. Bella knows this is wrong, but she decides to fall for Jacob's trap anyway.
At that moment, she cheated on Edward. If two people are in an exclusive, monogamous relationship, this means that either partner cannot indulge in the benefits of a relationship with anyone outside of the pre-established relationship. There are specific boundaries in place when two people agree to a monogamous relationship, and if those boundaries are crossed, it is considered cheating.
Cheating on a partner, regardless of the reasons behind it, is wrong. It's a sign of betrayal, disloyalty to the partner. This can lead to major trust issues and a broken heart. Trust is one of the most important aspects of a relationship. Bella was aware that Edward would be upset if she kissed Jacob and she still went through with it. However, Bella and Edward always say how they can't live without the other.
So, they just brush the kiss aside and continue obsessing over each other. Did you have a celebrity crush on anyone famous? I had and honestly am still in my hardcore One Direction fan phase. Posters of the band members covered my walls, I bought all of their albums on CD, I went to a couple of their concerts, I watched all of their X Factor diaries when they were competing on the show, and saw their tour documentary in the theatres.
The entire Twilight series is based on an intense love story between Bella and Edward. Their feelings for one another may seem endearing, but it crosses the line of obsession. Obsession is an overwhelming feeling.
